Our Mission
SleepPilot was born from a simple observation: millions of people struggle with sleep every night, yet most don't have access to simple, effective tools to understand and improve their sleep patterns. We created SleepPilot to fill that gap — providing free, science-based calculators, trackers, and educational resources that anyone can use to optimize their rest.
The science of sleep is fascinating and well-established. Research shows that proper sleep hygiene can transform not just how you feel, but your long-term health, cognitive performance, and overall quality of life. Yet most of us were never taught how to sleep well. That's where we come in.
What We Offer
SleepPilot provides over 40 specialized tools designed to help you understand, track, and improve your sleep:
- Sleep Calculators — Determine your optimal bedtime based on sleep cycles, calculate sleep debt, and find the perfect wake time.
- Health Trackers — Monitor factors that affect sleep quality including caffeine intake, water consumption, and exercise patterns.
- Relaxation Timers — Guided breathing exercises, meditation timers, and progressive relaxation tools.
- Assessment Tools — Sleep quality self-assessments and environment checklists.
The Science Behind SleepPilot
Every tool on SleepPilot is grounded in sleep science research. We consulted published studies on circadian rhythms, sleep architecture, and the factors that influence sleep quality. Our sleep cycle calculator, for example, uses the well-established 90-minute average sleep cycle duration to help you wake at the optimal point in your sleep cycle.
The 4-7-8 breathing technique we feature is based on Dr. Andrew Weil's research on pranayama breathing, shown to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Our temperature and humidity comfort calculators use guidelines from the National Sleep Foundation.
Our Team
SleepPilot was created by a small team of sleep enthusiasts, developers, and health writers who believe that better sleep should be accessible to everyone. Our developers build tools that actually work. Our writers create content that's both informative and enjoyable to read. And our sleep science advisors ensure everything we publish is accurate and evidence-based.
Why We Exist
Consider these statistics: Approximately 30% of adults experience symptoms of insomnia. Sleep deprivation costs the US economy an estimated $411 billion annually. And studies show that most people believe they can get by on less sleep than they actually need.
We created SleepPilot to combat these problems. By giving people free, easy-to-use tools and education, we hope to help the world sleep better — one person at a time.
Our Commitment to Privacy
Sleep is personal. That's why SleepPilot is designed with privacy in mind. Most of our tools run entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to save it. We don't sell your information. We don't run invasive tracking. We just help you sleep better.
